Our company specializes in resolving problems caused by birds in Minneapolis, Minnesota, both residential and commerical. We handle bird species such as pigeons, starlings, grackles, sparros, and even Canada Geese and woodpeckers. We generally don't kill birds - we prevent them from causing problems. Most commonly, this means that we install barriers that prevent them access to your building or property, or anti-roosting devices that prevent them from landing, nesting, or roosting on your home, store, building, or anywhere. We use netting, needle strips, shock track, and more. We do offer trapping in some cases, and removal of birds from warehouses, grocery stores, or other commerical or industrial buildings by netting or sometimes pellet shooting. We have a wide variety of tools and methods for solving every manner of bird problem. Call us at 612-361-6345 to discuss your bird problem today.

How Legal It Is to Trap a Pigeon?

Over the years, various pigeon species have become dependent upon humans for their survival. Therefore, they'll reside in urban areas where there is plenty of food supply. Pigeons tend to breed crazy and would fly in flocks around the area. They would cover the buildings and houses with their acidic feces. Their feces are known to carry over 60 diseases that can cause severe health hazards. Therefore, getting rid of them becomes a necessity.

Domestic Pigeons on Farms

We've all seen people keeping pigeons in their farms or even homes. However, these pigeons are of another breed. Some people even tend to release their pigeons from the aviaries and let them fly away from their home. However, they keep track of time when the pigeon would return. Some farms would breed pigeons and later sell them to restaurants as delicacies. This practice has been growing at a steady rate over the years.

Can I trap a pigeon?

Usually, in the UK and USA, Feral Pigeons are commonly sighted in public areas and parks. They normally fly in flocks, therefore, spotting them is quite easy. Although it's not recommended to trap these pigeon species as they are wild. However, there aren't any state laws or rules that state otherwise. However, if you're thinking of relocating pigeons, it's important that you do it wisely. Mostly pigeons would come back flying to the same place you picked them from.

How to trap a pigeon?

For trapping a pigeon, you could use various methods. The most convenient way is to use one-way door traps. You'll have to place food inside the cage to lure the pigeon towards it. Bread piece or cracked corn is their favorite food. One-way doors only allow entry from one side; therefore once they are in the cage, they won't be able to come out. Another way is to use nettings and place them against your wall or on your roof. It's one of the most economical ways of catching pigeons; however, if the netting isn't placed properly, it won't work well.

Capturing pigeons and relocating them to another place won't work. Either you have to repel them from the place, or you'll have to kill them over there. Fortunately, pigeons are the only birds that don't have any state laws against their killings. House Sparrow and Starling are the other two of such type of birds. Although killing them sounds promising, in reality, it won't be beneficial to inhibit the pigeon population. Therefore better strategies need to be deployed to get rid of this menace once and for all. Placing spikes on the roof is the best option!
